Chargers Ignite
Your student has four chances to earn Chargers Ignite - a program promoting academic success and responsibility. At the end of each academic quarter, students with 90% homework completion and 90% classwork completion earn the opportunity to attend a fun activity outside of class, and a dog tag for a necklace. Students must also be here most days. Students are allowed to be absent no more than two days per quarter, and have no more than three tardies or early outs per quarter. In addition, students must receive no office referrals during this period.
Minor Referrals
For classroom or playground behavior issues, we may fill out and send home a "minor referral". This is an indication that your student has broken a class, lunch room, or playground rule. We send home this minor referral form as a communication piece between home and school. Please understand that we each have strong classroom management plans in place, and the child who receives a minor referral has already been counseled and been involved with making a plan about changing the behavior.
Fighting, physical violence of any kind, stealing, sexual harassment, damage of school or private property, possession of dangerous items, and bullying are not minor referral matters and will be referred to the office immediately for an "office referral" and counseling by one of our principals.
All of this information is available in our School Wide Behavior Intervention Plan, as a part of our student handbook.
Second Grade Semester Awards
At the end of each semester, your student will have an opportunity to earn awards for Character-based achievements. More information will follow closer to the end of the semester.
